Mayor, Nick Duivenvoorden

I was born in 1960 and have been a life-long resident of this community.  I am married to Pauline, also a life-long resident, and we have five children; David, Derek, Scott, Anika and Karlee.  With Pauline, I own and, with Derek, we operate Shore - View Holsteins, a plus or minus seven hundred acre, one hundred fifty head purebred Holstein dairy farm.

In the past I was president of the Miramichi Valley Holstein Club and a director of the N.B. Branch of Holstein Canada before serving as its president for two years.  I have also been a director and executive director of the N.B. Federation of Agriculture and the Agriculture Producers Association of N.B.  In 2002 I helped orchestrate the movement of hay form New Brunswick to the drought-stricken Prairies through the Hay West campaign.  I was also a school board trustee for four years and thereafter a member of our School Parent Advisory Committee, the District Parent Advisory Council and for three and one half years represented School District 15 on the Provincial Board of Education.  I have been a life-long member of St. Gabriel's Parish and a member of its choir as both a guitarist and vocalist for over twenty-five years.   I was Belledunes’ Deputy Mayor from 2001-2004 before being elected mayor in May 2004 and again in 2008.

Deputy Mayor, Emmie Flanagan

I was raised in Armstrong Brook, now known as Belledune – Ward 2.  I graduated from Bathurst High School in 1977.  Upon finishing university, I traveled and worked in the cities of St. Johns NF, Halifax NS, London and Toronto ON.

I moved back to my beloved Belledune in 1997.

My family tree is somewhat unique in the history and the making of Belledune.  On my father’s side, I am a 4th generation descendent to the first settler in Jacquet River (now known as Belledune – Ward 1).  On my mother’s side, I am 5th generation descendent to the first European settler in Belledune.  My mother’s childhood home was situated in the area of what is now known as, “The Port of Belledune”.

I have taken up the challenge to be a municipal elected official.  My vision for our present council is to see we stay connected to this community through exceptional teamwork with positive progress in mind.

Councillor, Elaine Levesque-Godin

My name is Elaine Levesque-Godin and I was born in a copper mining town named Murdochville, PQ in 1962.  My parents are Annette (Gauthier) Landry and the late Gerald Levesque.  I have one brother, William (Bill) Levesque.  I am married to Jean-Eudes (Woody) Godin since 1987 and we have a son, Julian who is currently attending university.  I graduated from Dalhousie Regional High School in 1981 and later attained a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, NB in 1986.  I currently teach at Dalhousie Regional High School, Dalhousie, NB.  Prior to this, I have had the opportunity to instruct for the Community College of Campbellton, Academic Studies – Belledune Site, for approximately 11 years.  I am an active member of my community which provides the opportunity for direct contact with members of my community, a means of staying active, and to attain personal growth.  My other interests includes exercising (playing hockey, walking, tennis), heritage (old photographs), and community volunteering.  I am looking forward to the many challenges ahead as councillor of the Village of Belledune.

Councillor, Paul Daley

I was born in Chatham, NB in 1958.  I moved to Jacquet River (now Belledune), in 1980.  I started my teaching career at the Jacquet River School and have been a teacher in School District 15 ever since.  I have been involved in Municipal politics (off and on) since 1989.  I have spent 12 years on Village Councils in Jacquet River and Belledune.  I was married in March 1986 to Katherine Guitard and we have 3 sons, Robert, Timothy and Matthew.

Councillor, Jerry Guitard

Councillor, Mario Lapointe

I was born in 1970 and lived in New Mills, New Brunswick up until graduating from Dalhousie Regional High School in 1988. I then moved to Moncton, New Brunswick to study Civil Engineering Technology and moved back to Northern New Brunswick in 1991 working with a well known Engineering firm.

In the summer of 1992, my fate was sealed to become a resident of Belledune when I met the woman who is now my wife, Dony (Carrier) LaPointe, a life-long resident of the community. I have been a resident of Belledune since the Spring of 1994 and we now live in the Armstrong Brook area of the community along with our daughter, Emily who was born in 1996.

In the fall of 1994 I started a one year work term with the Village of Belledune which has kindled a relationship with this municipal government and community that has spanned 14 years. During that time, I have taken part in the amalgamation of Belledune, Jacquet River and the surrounding unincorporated areas into what is now the current day Village of Belledune as well as provided community development services to the municipality from 2002 to 2008.

I currently work as a Civil Engineering Technologist for the Eel River Bar First Nation in Eel River Bar, New Brunswick managing their new housing development portfolio as well as providing other technical services for the First Nation community since the summer of 1997. In addition, I own my own technical services firm, MDE Consulting, which has been in business since 1999.

In the Municipal Elections of 2008, I was elected to office for Ward 2 of the Belledune Municipality and look forward to serving my first council term from 2008 – 2012.
